Important dates

Reading records go out every Monday and need to be returned to school the following Monday. Your child must read 5x a week and an adult must date and sign their record for every occasion read.

PE: Tuesday (come to school in PE kits)

Cojos: Friday (come to school in PE kits)

Spelling test: Friday

Multiplication tables: All times tables but especially the trickier ones – 6,7,8,9,11 and 12 multiplication tables.

Home Learning

This will be set on a Monday and returned on a Thursday. A further will be set on a Thursday and returned on a Monday.

The expectation for Year 6 is as follows:

  • Maths revision booklet out on a Monday, due in Thursday. GPS and Reading revision booklets out on a Thursday, due in Monday.
  • Lexia (if provided) 2 x 20 minutes per week
  • Reading book (‘school scheme’ or library book) to read and have recorded 5 x per week- signed by an adult each week

Autumn 1

Our two main focuses of learning this term are WW2 and the Circulatory System.

Week 1

Well done for a fantastic first week! They have show that they are ready for Year 6, showing maturity, positivity and determination to do well. Well done to every single individual person in Year 6.

 

Week 2

This week the children started their Science topic by learning about the circulatory system by finding out what the important parts are and the functions. They matched up jigsaw pieces and drew their own circulatory system. Here are some of their amazing pieces of learning.

On Friday 6b had a PJ day thanks to Mrs Horan and our attendance. When we spun the wheel a PJ day was our reward. Here are some photos from Friday.

Week 3

This week year 6 have been creative and loved making models of the heart. We learnt about why the heart is important and what all the different parts of the heart out. We then created a 2d model of the heart showing all the different parts.

Week 4

This week in Science we have been making blood and learning about the components of our blood. We used
orange juice for plasma, red jelly for red blood cells, white marshmallows for white blood cells and honey hoop
cereal for the platelets. We found out what the function of each part was and have created some lovely posters.

Week 5

This week we have been learning about some WW2 artists: Victor Lundy, Lillian Yonally, Henry Moore, Eric Kennington and completing some research on them as well as trying to recreate some of their work.

RE Sikh Studies. The wonderful Mr Singh returns!

Cooking in Year 6

The children made roast potato wedges to celebrate the end of SATS. We have sent a recipe home in case they want to make them.

Jungle book dance workshop

Today we had a lady from West End Theatre to do a Jungle Book dance workshop. The children performed the story of Jungle book and had so much fun doing it!
