Reading bags and home learning need to be brought in every Monday morning and will then be given out on Monday afternoons. Each child will get reading book to please read x3 at home, as well as a class library book that they can enjoy with a grown up. The reward for this is x5 Dojo points per child!!
PE: Tuesday and Friday – please ensure children come to school in their correct P.E kits.

Autumn 2
Week 2
What a busy week it has been! It was great to see the children spreading care and kindness with our focus on Children in Need and Anti-bullying Week! In art 1A have been making junk sculptures and 1B made tools for digging in forest school.
Week 1
What a super first week back after half term! 1B have enjoyed going to forest schools and 1A are excited to start their art topic on self-portraits. On Friday we went on a walk around our local area to see if we could find any human and physical features. We can’t wait to use what we have found in our geography topic!
Week 8
What a fun week Year 1 have had! We have completed our very own Oi 1A/1B books – don’t forget to have a look at these at Roll up and Read! Year 1 loved the pumpkin trail and we really enjoyed seeing all the spooky pumpkins. Well done to Sammy, Amelia-Grace and Isabelle who won our quiz!
Week 7
Year 1 enjoyed their trip to St. Mark’s Methodist Church – we sang ‘Cauliflower’s Fluffy’ and handed over Harvest donations to the church. A massive thank you to all who donated.
Week 6
1B enjoyed using charcoal and ink to make their self portraits this week – thankfully we didn’t get too messy! We are also becoming maths experts – year 1 are doing amazing learning in comparing numbers up to 10 too!
Week 5
Year 1 finished their awesome Autumn poems this week – we are super impressed with their amazing adjectives and use of the senses! We have been enjoying Leeds Rhinos teaching us for PE too – we have been practicing attacking and defending!
Week 4
Year 1 have been learning all about how shopping has changed from the 1960’s e.g. the till system, types of shops and ways of payments. They have loved using their imagination in our role play area as shop keepers.
Week 3
Year 1 are beginning their writing project of writing an Autumn poem. We explored an Autumn tuff tray, describing how different objects looked and felt and even had the taste of some delicious hot chocolate!
Week 2
The children in year 1 have been super scientists this week! We used our 5 senses to explore the world around us by observational drawing, hearing outdoors, taste testing crisps, smelling different things and guessing what is in the bag by feeling!
Week 1
We are super proud at how the children have settled into year 1 this week! This week we started our science topic with a focus on our bodies – the children really enjoyed playing Simon says and Body bingo.
