Good choices
We reward good choices in Nursery by collecting Dojo points. Every time we collect 25 Dojo points we get a certificate and a prize! We also highlight positives in class by ringing the Good News bell to share children’s good choices with each other.
‘Borrow a Bedtime Book’:
We love reading stories in Nursery! We would love you to borrow some of our Library Books to take home and share at bed time as a family.
Our Library day is now on a Wednesday for both beginning and end of the week. Children get 2 Dojo points in their reading diary for bringing their library books back and getting them changed. Please comment in the reading diary to show that you have shared the book.
Please pass your child’s library book bag to a member of Nursery staff when you arrive at school, thank you.
Tapestry:
We share observations of your children with you via the Tapestry App. We ask that you also share photo’s with us – the children love it when they see themselves on the screen when we share the pictures from home in class!
Come and join us!
We welcome family members to join us for:
Rhythm and Rhyme Time with Miss Harris
and
Rhythm and Rhyme Time / Roll up and Read on alternate weeks with Mrs Martin
*The days and times of these will be confirmed once all our new children are settled in*

Autumn 1 Week 5
This week we had our photographs taken – it was very exciting to go to the hall and meet the friendly photographer. We have also had a lot of fun in the playground too, running around, playing hide and seek and trying our best to take turns on the swings by talking with our friends.
We have been doing really well in the classroom with our routines. We have been practising sitting on the carpet well and helping to put things away when we have been asked to. Our Dojo eggs have finally hatched so we can now see all our cute Dojo Monsters… we have been collecting so many Dojo points and a few more children have managed to get their prize from the prize box – well done!
We are very proud to share that when some of our children have been feeling in the blue zone (tired / sad) or the red zone (angry / overwhelmed with emotion), they have been using our safe, soft, comfy space that is the Regulation area. They have learnt that however we are feeling is ok and that the Regulation area is a safe place to go to help us get back into the green zone. It’s amazing that the children are starting to talk so well about their feelings already and gives us a warm fuzzy feeling that they feel safe to do so with us.
In other news, KPOP Demon Hunters has been the sound track of the week providing endless smiles and dance moves for the children and grown ups!!
Autumn 1 Week 4
It’s been a lovely week in Nursery. Our children are becoming really nice friends and are starting to show care and listen to each other. We have still had Supertato enthusiasm going on so made our own apple superheroes – they look amazing!
Some children have been enjoying climbing the trees at the bottom of our garden, or watching the more confident children have a go. We’ve also loved the swing again and have been making lots of tunes up in our outdoor Arena.
We are getting really good at coming to the carpet now, we understand that we need to be quiet and answer our name when we say the register. The ‘Days of the Week’ songs are proving popular too!
There are photos on top of our tray drawers now where we keep our water bottles. Please send your child into Nursery with a water bottle so that they have easy access to water all day. Thank you.
Autumn 1 Week 3
Guess what Amaya dug up in our garden on Tuesday…. A potato! This lead us to read Supertato together and has sparked a lot of excitement that the children wanted to hear the story again and again!
Unfortunately, Miss Harris had a nasty shock when she got to school on Wednesday. Some evil peas had escaped into her bag from her freezer and then they jumped out into the water area, terrible. Luckily, the children that wanted to made their own Supertatoes so the can come to the rescue, phew!
There’s been some lovely kind playing and friendship making this week and the children have collected lots of Dojos for the good choices they have been making. We are trying really hard to follow the routines of the day and do what has been asked of us. We have even been ‘Showing 5’ on the carpet – this means that we do 5 important things: 1 looking eyes, 2 listening ears, 3 locked lips, 4 still body, 5 fantastic focus. Well done for all the effort you are showing Nursery, you are settling in beautifully.

Autumn 1 Week 2
It’s been a fun week this week getting to know our new Nursery friends. We have made train tracks, painted, played with the sand and water and played in the home corner with the babies. There has been a lot of fun happening outside too, we have especially loved taking turns on the swings.
We have practised ‘showing 5’ on the carpet to help us all enjoy our carpet sessions. We have also been introduced to our Dojo monsters! This is really exciting as our Dojo Monsters help us to collect points when we make good choices then when we have collected 25 points, we get a prize from the special prize box. Some of our monsters are still hidden in their eggs so it will be exciting to see what they look like when they hatch.
One of the stories that we have had fun reading this week is Goldilocks and the Three Bears – we thought it was really funny when Goldilocks ran away from the bears at the end! Then we made up a song about carroty porridge, yum!
Well done for all the good choices you have made this week Nursery, and for being good friends.
Autumn 1 Week 1
Welcome back to our lovely Nursery families, we hope that you had a really lovely summer and are as happy to be back as we are.
This week we have been getting used to our quiet classroom as lots of our old friends are now in Reception. We have been enjoying playing with each other and also seeing our older friends in the playground.
It has been really strange at the beginning of the week as Mrs Ward told us that her name has changed and now she is called Miss Harris…. this might take us a while to get used to!
Miss Harris, Mrs Jones and Mrs Martin have been out and about visiting some new friends at their homes this week. We have all said that we will help our new friends when we see them. We are all looking forward to meeting them and welcoming them into our Park Spring family.
Please remember to share any photos of what you have been up to over the six weeks holidays as we absolutely love sharing pictures with our friends. Also remember that we are here to support you with anything we can do so please do come and chat to us at any time.
