‘Achieving Together ● Inspired To Be Successful’

Governors

The School Governing Body consists of:

  • The Headteacher
  • A local authority representative
  • Staff representatives
  • Parent representatives
  • Co-opted Community representatives

The Headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the school. At Park Spring, the Governing Body meets six times a year and the Headteacher provides a report once per term.

The role of the Governing Body is to:

  • Provide strategic direction and act as a “critical friend,” supporting the work of the Senior Leadership Team. A strategic committee is formed of the Headteacher, Deputy Head, Chair and Vice-Chair
  • Manage the delegated budget to cover salaries, running costs, maintenance and equipment
  • Appoint the Headteacher (they may also be involved in appointment of other key staff members)
  • Review the performance of the Headteacher annually
  • Monitor the school’s progress – Governors take responsibility for monitoring specific areas (see Governor Responsibilities section below)

Further information on the role of a Governing Body can be found at School governor (leeds.gov.uk). We currently have 2 vacancies for co-opted community members, if you are interested in joining us, please contact Rachel Yates, Chair of Governors: ryates@parkspringprimary.co.uk

All Governors must follow a Code of Conduct which can be found here: Code of conduct for maintained schools
