If you wish to request for your child(ren) to be absent from school, you will need to complete the below form:-
Exceptional Circumstances Request Form
Completed application forms need to be handed in to the School Office.
Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive a formal written response, containing the outcome of your request.
Since September 2013, changes to government legislation mean that schools are unable to authorise term-time holidays. Leave of absence can only be approved in exceptional circumstances, and holidays are not classed as exceptional.
Requests for leave must be submitted in advance. The Department for Education has advised schools that absences cannot be authorised after they have already taken place.
A penalty notice is issued to parents or carers who fail to ensure their child attends school regularly. In Leeds, Leeds City Council issues penalty notices on behalf of schools.
If a penalty notice is issued, one fine will apply to the full period of absence. This means the fine is the same whether the absence is five days or ten days. For example, a parent may receive a £60 fine if their child misses one day per week over five weeks, and another parent may receive the same fine for a single two-week absence.
Penalty notices are issued at £60 per child, per parent if paid within 21 days, rising to £120 if paid between 22 and 28 days. If the fine is not paid, parents may be prosecuted.
