On this page we want to provide you with an insight into our curriculum BEYOND THE ACADEMIC. You might know this vital aspect of learning as PASTORAL CARE. At PSPS we are proud to support pupils develop their individual characters in many diverse aspects of life.
Our recently revised school aims and ethos helps us ALL to focus on what is important. We aim to provide learning that teaches pupils how to BUILD THEIR CONFIDENCE and RESILIENCE. It is really important to us that our pupils go into the next phase of their learning and into their adult lives being HAPPY and CARING.
Our GOLDEN THREAD document builds on this and will change as the needs and contexts our children face, change also. Our current thread is deigned to help US ALL – rememeber what it is we are trying to achieve.
COVID has really had an affect on many of us. We have identified TEAMWORK and RESLIENCE as the two aspects of our CHARACTERISTICS that we want to develop over the next 12 months.
At PSPS we want to prepare the children for life in modern Britain effectively, developing their understanding of the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
The final aspects of our GOLDEN THREAD. PSPS promotes equality of opportunity and diversity effectively. As a result, pupils understand, appreciate and respect difference in the world and its people, celebrating the things we share in common across cultural, religious, ethnic and socio-economic communities.
Pupils engage with views, beliefs and opinions that are different from their own in considered ways. They show respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law and no forms of discrimination are tolerated.
The school provides pupils with meaningful opportunities to understand how to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society. They understand what their place in their community – what it can offer them and what they can do enhance it!
