Here at Park Spring Primary, we work closely with many charities across the academic year. From fun Children in Need days, to dressing up for Christmas with our ‘Save the Children Jumper day’, we are always busy raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves.
As a staff team, we are also always involved in as much fundraising as possible. We have taken part in numerous charity events, including Leeds Ninja Challenge, where we raised money for our school charity, Love the One.
Over the past years, we have had strong links with the children’s charity ‘Love the One’. This charity supports children in India, helping them develop, and avoid the growing issues they face as they grow up. We have been lucky enough to have had members of our staff travel over to India to see their work in action. We then decided to raise money for Roit and his 3 siblings to go to the EPIC program. Following that, we anually sponser 4 other children; Shankar, Satya, Riot and Chinky.
Shankar
Shankar was being used on his dad’s tea stall for 6 months. He was working 8 hours a day and was really unhappy. When Love The One found him dad agreed to let him come to school. Shankar wants to be a police man or a doctor … he is so happy to be back at school!
Satiya
Satiya is doing really well in school, he has improved so much and is really trying to get his head down. He used to find it very difficult to stay focussed, but recently his concentration is improving and he is spending less time distracting others. Satiya loves Maths.
Chinky
Chinky is a delight. She is ridiculously cute and always comes to school smiling. She is really happy to be in school and loves it!
Roit
Roit has recently had his head shaved (hair donated to the Gods at the temple!) He is really quiet and shy but ALWAYS makes it to school – no matter what.
Our school currently sponsors 4 children, helping them get the most out of their childhood in India.
